Debus has been practiced since the seventeenth century (1651-1682) when the King (Sultan) Ageng Tirtayasa ruled Banten Islamic Kingdom. Debus is a kind of art, combined with dancing, singing, music and mysticism. In the show, it performs a lot of attractions and invulnerability of the body. For instance cutting parts of human body with golok (a big blade), stabbing the stomach by using a bludgeon or spear, consuming the fire and many other attractions. Besides, there are still many other arts like patingtung, leasubrug, syaman, beluk, terbang gede (big tambourine), rudat, and many more.
